Students take on the role of an animator working on a team to create an animated claymation short movie. The challenge is to collaborate in groups to create a claymation short movie using stop motion animation techniques. The short movie needs to be unique, include unique characters and have a clear plot with a beginning, middle and end. The challenge involves dealing with clay and art materials to create a set design, clay characters, and props that can be moved to create an animation using stop motion techniques.

MA Standards

A.MA.P.05

Develop and refine artistic techniques and work for presentation. Organize and plan a media arts exhibition that explores a personally meaningful theme, idea, or concept (e.g. identify and coordinate an artistic space, set up technology).

SLCA.9-10.1

Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions (one-on-one, in groups, and teacher-led) with diverse partners on discipline-specific texts, and issues, building on others' ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.
